What is AED?

An (AED) automated external defibrillator is a device that sends an electric shock to the heart that will restore the natural heart rhythm to the victim during a cardiac arrest. When the AED electrodes are applied to the victim's chest, it automatically analyzes the heart rhythm and the rescuer is then advised whether a shock is needed to regain a normal heart beat. The heart has been defibrillated when the victim's heart resumes normal beating.

Services

What is Live Scan Fingerprinting?

An automated service for criminal history background checks that may be required as a condition of employment, licensing, certification, foreign adoptions or VISA/Immigration clearances. Applicants must get instructions and the forms required for fingerprinting services from the agency requiring their criminal history background check. Since different forms are used, individuals seeking a "clearance letter" from the department for visa, immigration or foreign adoptions purposes should refer to the Visas, Immigration, and Foreign Adoptions sections at the California Department of Justice websit: www.ag.ca.gov

*Live Scan (Digitally Scanned Fingerprints) All applicant fingerprint submissions will be transmitted electronically. Live Scan digital submissions provide the quickest way to submit and process background checks. Live Scan technology allows digitally scanned fingerprints and related information to be submitted electronically to the Department of Justice within a matter of minutes and allows criminal background checks to be processed usually within 72 hours. In California, fingerprinting must be done by a certified fingerprint roller or qualified law enforcement personnel.

 What is CPR?

CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It's an emergency lifesaving procedure that is performed when a person's own breathing or heart beat have stopped, such as in a case of heart attack, electric shock or drowning. CPR is a critical part of the C - A - B of first response:

C: Compression

A: Airway

B: Breathing

CPR includes rescue breathing and chest compressions. Rescue breathing provides oxygen to the person's lungs. Chest compressions keep oxygen-rich blood circulating until an effective heartbeat can be restored. Permanent brain damage or death can occur within minutes if blood flow stops. Therefore, it is critical that blood flow and breathing be continued until medical help arrives.
